Abstract | This paper briefly summaries and compares six technologies which are considered to be innovative to the thermal destruction of hazardous wastes. The six technologies are: Fluidized Bed, Molten Salt, High Temperature Fluid Wall, Plasma Arc, Wet Air Oxidation and Supercritical Water. This paper concludes that: Tests of a few technologies have shown that the selected waste can be destroyed to meet the 99.99% DRE requirement, Wet Air Oxidation apparently has the lowest temperature and the longest residence time requirement, plasma has the highest temperature characteristic, and Supercritical water has the highest pressure requirement. |
