Abstract
Sediment samples were collected at 23 representative locations in the Milwaukee Estuary, Wisconsin, July 29-31, 1980. Analyses of the samples showed high concentrations of inorganic pollutants and heavy metals, and detectable levels of a number of organic priority pollutants. Contaminant concentrations are generally highest in the upper sediment layers, indicating probably recent input of pollutants to the estuary. Major source areas for various pollutants were identified.
