The paper provides a literature review of selected, published literature relative to the performance of certain pollution control technologies that have been applied to Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plants. It discusses various environmental standards which have been adopted by three European countries and three U.S. states for WTE plants. The paper describes the pollutant emissions and residues exiting plants of this type, and delineates the performance of two Canadian air pollution control technology pilot plants applied to the flue gases of such plants.
