Abstract
The subject of the operation of anaerobic digesters in municipal wastewater treatment plants is presented covering the areas of troubleshooting, general operation, safety, start-up of units, basic theory, sampling and laboratory testing, and other subjects related to day-to-day operation. The intended audience is plant operators who are operating treatment plants with anaerobic digesters. The format is set up to allow individuals to choose the portion of the manual of most interest and use that portion without the necessity of reading all the material sequentially. Information for the contents was obtained by visits to a number of plants, literature research and discussions with experienced digester operators.
