Abstract
The central nervous system (CNS) receives and integrates input and then responds to maintain bodily functions. The complex interaction of the nervous system with other organ systems suggests that it should be highly vulnerable to the deleterious effects of chemical and physical agents. The actual measurement of CNS dysfunction is made difficult since there are so many functions that might be assessed and there are few commonly accepted guidelines as to how to correlate many neurobehavioral changes with specific histopathological or neurochemical alterations.
