Abstract |
This interim report discusses unit processes and combinations of unit processes which are capable of removing contaminants included in the National Interim Primary Drinking Water Standards. Construction and Operation and Maintenance cost curves are presented for 30 unit processes, which are considered to be especially applicable to contaminant removal. The Final Report for this project will include similar cost curves for over 100 unit processes. All costs are presented in terms of January 1978 dollars, but a discussion is included on cost updating. For construction cost, either of two methods may be used. One is to use indices which are specific in the eight categories used to determine construction cost. The second is use of an all-encompassing index, such as ENR Construction Cost Index. Operation and maintenance requirements may be readily updated or adjusted to local conditions, since labor requirements are expressed in hours per year, and electrical requirements in kilowatt-hours per year. |
