Abstract
Experiments were conducted to investigate the formation of products of incomplete combustion (PICs) during 'recovered' trichlorofluoromethane (CFC-11) incineration. Recovered CFCs have been reclaimed from previous service and may contain organic and inorganic contaminants. Tests involved burning the recovered CFC-11 in a propane gas flame. Combustion gas samples were taken and analyzed for volatile organic compounds as well as polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibensofurans (PCDD/PCDF).
