Abstract
A simple conceptual model is presented that describes the dynamic response of surface water chemistry as a function of rates of acid deposition (notable H2SO4) and a few key soil processes. Work continues on the use of temporal water chemistry data as a means of qualitatively verifying the concepts underlying these seven stages of acidification.
