Abstract
The document gives statistical procedures for evaluating whether pollution parameter concentrations in remediated soil and solid media at Superfund sites are statistically above site-specific reference-based cleanup standards. The variability in the reference-area and cleanup-unit measurements is taken into by the testing procedures. The intended audience for this document includes EPA regional managers, Superfund site responsible parties, state environmental protection agencies, and contractors for these groups. The document can be applied to implement and evaluate emergency or routine removel actions, remedial response activities, final status surveys, and Superfund enforcement.
