Abstract | In this study, diffusion coefficients were obtained for a variety of sorbates differing in size and charge. But the methodology used, both experimental and mathematical, is actually more significant. Preliminary experimental observations confirmed the importance of mass transfer resistance at the liquid-solid interface in a rapidly stirred batch reactor. Thus, attention was focused on developing a model in which external mass transfer and pore diffusion, acting in series control the rate of adsorption. |
