Abstract |
The ecological characterization of montane and subalpine wetlands encompasses the Rocky Mountain region from the Mexico border in New Mexico north to the Canada border in northern Montana and Idaho. The characterization has application to those wetlands located in adjoining mountainous regions of the Western United States. The document provides a general review of Rocky Mountain literature including discussion of geology, hydrology, climate, and soils. There is an especially comprehensive review of the ecological classification of montane and subalpine wetland communities with detailed descriptions of vegetation composition and illustration of many community types. |
