Abstract
This document is one of a series of four volumes prepared for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to assist it in determining the significance of air pollution from the petrochemical industry. A total of 33 distinctly different processes which are used to produce 27 petrochemicals have been surveyed. This volume covers the following processes: Polypropylene, Polystyrene, Polyvinyl Chloride, Styrene, Styrene-Butadiene Rubber, Vinyl Acetate via Acetylene, Vinyl Acetate via Ethylene, and Vinyl Chloride. For each process the report includes a process description, a process emission inventory, a catalog of emission control equipment, a list of producers, and an evaluation of the significance of the air pollution from the process. Also included is a summary table of emissions to the atmosphere from all the processes studied.
