Abstract |
This document is one of a series prepared for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to assist it in determining the significance of air pollution from the petrochemical industry. A total of 33 distinctly different processes which are used to produce 27 petrochemicals have been surveyed. This volume covers the following processes: acetaldehyde via ethylene, acetaldehyde via ethanol, acetic acid via methanol, acetic acid via butane, acetic acid via acetaldehyde, acetic anhydride, adipic acid, adiponitrile via butadiene, and adiponitrile via adipic acid. For each process the report includes a process description, a process emission inventory, a catalog of emission control equipment, a list of producers, and an evaluation of the significance of the air pollution from the process. Also included is a summary table of emissions to the atmosphere from all the processes studied. |
