Abstract
The study presents a methodology for planning and evaluation of multiple purpose water resource projects. Evaluation is considered to provide continuous feedback. Planning objectives, derived from identification of regional needs for the supply of water and related land resources, are proposed. These objectives are of an economic, social or environmental nature. Analysis of a project is devided into two parts: the first oriented toward identifying major impacts and the second toward improving the design effectiveness of project aspects. The purposes of flood control, water supply, recreation and environmental quality are used toillustrate concepts, and post-audit analyses of three completed projects are used to exemplify procedures.
