This report presents national trends in air quality for cabon monoxide, lead, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, particulate matter, and sulfur dioxide. Trends are presented for the long term (when available), for the 10-year period from 1986 to 1995, and for the short term (changes over the past year). In addition to air quality from data collected at monitoring stations across the country, trends in annual nationwide emissions are also presented. Related topics include visibility, air toxics, Photochemical Assessment Monitoring Stations (PAMS), nonattainment areas, and trends in Metropolitan Statistical Areas. The report also contains a substantial appendix of data tables.
