Abstract |
Highly fluctuating prices for secondary materials are seen as risks in planning decisions, thus causing uncertainty and acting as a barrier to the use of secondary materials in production processes. Futures markets can provide a mechanism for transfer of price risk and decrease the uncertainty over future prices; however, commodities must possess certain characteristics to be successfully traded on futures markets. Wastepaper and ferrous scrap were analyzed for these characteristics and the results suggest that futures trading in these commodities is feasible. |
