Abstract |
The report gives results of a study of ferroalloy furnace flexibility, in terms of open versus sealed furnaces, small versus large furnaces, and ferroalloy type. It identifies operational parameters that must be adjusted when changing products in a ferroalloy furnace and compares domestic furnaces and operating practices to those in parts of Europe and Japan. The report suggests additional research and development programs that could be undertaken by EPA to enhance the utilization of sealed furnaces and/or reduce furnace emissions in the U.S. ferroalloy industry. |
