Abstract
Highlights of a study dealing with alternative liquid fuels derived from domestic coal and oil shale are discused. Economic, technical, and performance criteria are considered for gasolines, distillates, and methanol for the time period 1975-2000. Estimated cost for producing the fuels is covered as well as safety, toxicity, reliability, compatibility with various engines, and convenience of use.
