Abstract |
This report discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the disposal of waste alum sludge from a water treatment plant to a municipal wastewater treatment plant and is submitted in fulfillment of Grant No. 803336-01 by Novato Sanitary District and North Marin County Water District with technical help from Culp, Wesner, and Culp. It covers the period from August 1974 to April 1977. The study indicated no adverse effects on the sewage treatment process; however, solids loading to the digester was increased. BOD and COD removals were not affected; phosphorus removal was slightly improved. Settling characteristics of sludge in secondary clarification were improved. |
