Abstract
Environmental data are often collected to assist in assessment of the impact of anthropogenic pollution on the natural environment, to determine the effects of pollution on human and ecological health, for enforcing compliance with environmental regulations and standards, and to assess the state of the environment. We address some statistical issues at the interface of environmental measurement and monitoring, environmental indicators, sampling approaches, use of environmental models, use of 'encountered' or 'found' environmental data, environmental decision making and public policy, and environmental reporting.
