Abstract
The specification of natural NOx emissions may be important for regional-scale air pollution modeling. Now that a national lightning detection network is operating, it is possible to make episodic estimates of lightning generated NOx emissions and to resolve these emissions to fine spatial and temporal scales. The paper reports on an approach that was used to estimate NOx emissions for the Regional Oxidant Model in the northeastern United States.
