Abstract |
The preparation of tissue and body fluid samples is a critical step in the determination of microscopic particle concentrations and characteristics by electron microscopy. A critical review of tissue preparation techniques reported in the literature is provided with emphasis on analytical sensitivity and accuracy and the problem of particle contamination. Details of a method devised for analysis of mineral fibers in urine samples are provided as an example of how the basic requirements for insuring quantitative particle analysis are achieved. |
