Abstract

The report demonstrates the effectiveness of settling basins, a hydrasieve, and stabilization ponds as a means of treating stockyards wastes. The study was divided into two phases. The first phase consisted of characterizing the wastes and construction of an enlarged settling basin, a hydrasieve and stabilization ponds as a means of treating stockyard wastes. During the second phase, the quality of the waste inflow and the treated effluent was monitored to determine the efficiency of the treatment system and to establish basic design criteria for use in other areas.
