Abstract
There are many isolated communities and governmental installations in Alaska with populations of less than 1000 people. An aerated lagoon with its ability to handle overloads and its simplicity of operation is attractive for remote installations. Late in 1967 the Alaska Air Command and the Alaska Water laboratory entered into an agreement to costruct and operate a research field facility that included an aerated lagoon pilot plant at Eielson Air Force Base, 22 miles southeast of Fairbanks in Interior Alaska. Most of the information in this report has been obtained from the Eielson lagoon.
