Abstract
The study was initiated because annual runoff is needed for several analyses being conducted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The study was concerned with the existence of a relationship between annual runoff volume per unit area and area; the reason underlying the relationship is unimportant. The variables were chosen based on the estimation procedure used in previous studies. Thus, the procedure of using runoff maps to estimate annual runoff for the Southern Blue Ridge Province and Northeast has no apparent bias due to watershed area.
