Abstract |
A study to determine the economics of water delivery was completed in 12 selected Class A (revenues greater than $500,000/year) water utilities and is reported in The Cost of Water Supply and Water Utility Management, Vols. I and II, EPA-600/5-77-015a and 015b, November 1977. The effort provided valid data on large water systems but raised questions about the costs associated with small utilities. Volume II contains the basic data from each of the 23 utilities studied and contains the results from the contractual effort. Services of each utility are divided into three functional areas common to all water supply delivery systems; acquisition, treatment, and delivery. These areas provide a common basis for collecting and comparing data. Costs are categorized as either operating or capital expenditures. |
