Abstract
The Chesapeake Bay watershed covers just over 41million acres. The area stretches from southern New York, through Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Washington D.C., to southern Virginia. It includes portions of Delaware and West Virginia on its eastern and western borders, respectively (Figure 1). The Chesapeake Bay watershed is comprised of eight major basins or sub-watersheds. These smaller watersheds drain the Susquehanna, Patuxent, Potomac, Rappahannock, York, and James rivers as well as the Eastern and Western Bay shores, which are comprised of many smaller rivers and creeks (Figure 2).
