Abstract | The goal of the research described in this report was to measure and estimate performance characteristics for the macroinvertebrate large river bioassessment protocol (LR-BP) for both field and laboratory components. In addition, this study describes an approach to the calculation and documentation of performance characteristics of sampling methods for riverine systems. To estimate certain performance characteristics, such as precision, this study incorporated replication of samples in both the field and the laboratory. In the field, three replicate samples were collected from each site, and, in the laboratory, three random subsamples were sorted from each sample when organism densities allowed. |
