Abstract |
A portable vacuum wavelength-dispersive x-ray analyzer has been constructed for on-site measurement of the sulfur content of filter-deposited airborne particles. Although designed to analyze for sulfur, the spectrometer is adjustable over a limited range providing the potential for determining other elements. With the x-ray tube rated at 50 watts, the instrument achieves a 100-second 3 sigma detection limit for sulfur of better than 0.5 microgram/sq cm. |
