Abstract
U.S.EPA developed the composite correction program (CCP) approach for improving POTW performance and published a handbook which describes how to implement the CCP approach. A comprehensive performance evaluation (CPE), which is the first part of the CCP approach, evaluates the capacities of thhe major unit processes and identifies and prioritizes the factors limiting a POTW's performance. Completing a CPE consists of five steps. A computer program was also developed by EPA to assist in one of the completing steps; the major unit process evaluation.
