Abstract
Solidification/stabilization (S/S) is being evaluated by the U.S. EPA as a best demonstrated available technology for treating hazardous waste and contaminated soils and debris. Future use of the technology in the United States will depend on how well it performs compared to other available treatment processes. The evaluations and current research being conducted will provide some answers regarding performance, however, additional studies are required for a better scientific understanding of S/S. However, the capability of the technology to perform satisfactorily over long periods of time has yet to be determined. (Copyright (c) 1988 by Kluwer Academic Publishers.)
