Abstract
This report describes a research effort to quantitatively assess the effects of selected agricultural practices on runoff, erosion and chemical processes, and to quantify the associated adjustments to model parameters based on the current state-of-the-art. Although the specific parameter changes are particular to the EPA's Hydrological Simulation Program--FORTRAN (HSPF) and Agricultural Runoff Management (ARM) Model used in this study, the information presented is generally applicable and should be pertinent to many models with similar representations of the relevant processes. Conventional practices and candidate BMPs for watersheds in Iowa are discussed as a basis for predicting BMP impacts on relevant processes.
