Abstract |
The EPA Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) is a comprehensive mathematical model for simulation of urban runoff water quality and quantity in storm and combined sewer systems. All aspects of the urban hydrologic and quality cycles are simulated, including surface and subsurface runoff, transport through the drainage network, storage and treatment. Part A of the two-volume report is an update of the user's manuals issued in 1971, 1975, and 1981. Part B is a user's manual for EXTRAN, a flow routing model that can be used both as a block of the SWMM package and as an independent model. The SWMM user's manual provides detailed descriptions for program blocks for Runoff, Transport, Storage/Treatment, Combine, Statistics, Rain, Temp and Graph (part of the Executive Block). EXTRAN represents a drainage system as links and nodes, allowing simulation of parallel of looped pipe networks; Weirs, orifices, and pumps; and system surcharges. |
