Abstract |
The incinerator tested, a pilot plant designed to process 1,000 lb of solid waste per hr, incorporated upper and lower duct sprays, a water scrubber, an afterburner, and, an electrostatic precipitator. These air pollution control devices could be operated independently or, to a degree, in series. Approximately 13 tons of waste were processed through the conical burner at a rate of 1,430 lb/hr. After incineration, the total residue as sampled was approximately 6,800 lb with a heat content of 180 Btu/lb. Incinerator design and methods used to collect and analyze solid waste samples or residue are given. |
