EPA Grant Number: R829095C005Subproject: this is subproject number 005 , established and managed by the Center Director under grant R829095
(EPA does not fund or establish subprojects; EPA awards and manages the overall grant for this center).
Center: Space-Time Aquatic Resources Modeling and Analysis Program (STARMAP)
Center Director: Urquhart, N. Scott
Title: Integration and Coordination for STARMAP
Investigators: Urquhart, N. Scott , Davis, Richard A. , Stevens, Don L.
Institution: Colorado State University , Southern California Coastal Water Research Project Authority , Oregon State University
Current Institution: Colorado State University , Oregon State University
EPA Project Officer: Packard, Benjamin H
Project Period: October 1, 2001 through September 30, 2006
Project Period Covered by this Report: October 1, 2003 through September 30, 2004
RFA: Research Program on Statistical Survey Design and Analysis for Aquatic Resources (2001) RFA Text | Recipients Lists
Research Category: Ecological Indicators/Assessment/Restoration , Watersheds , Water , Aquatic Ecosystems
Objective:
The objective of this research project is to obtain appropriate personnel, data, and equipment in a timely fashion so that the other subprojects can pursue their respective endeavors with a minimum of administrative distraction.
This is one of several projects conducted by the STARMAP Center. The progress of the other projects is reported in separate reports (see the Annual Reports for R829095, and R829095C001 through R829095C004).
Progress Summary:
The Director monitored the progress of subprojects R829095C001 through R829095C004, including oversight of their budgets, staffing, and coordination; monitored subcontracts to Oregon State University (OSU) and the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project (SCCWRP); initiated a subcontract with the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF); assembled and submitted quarterly and annual reports; and coordinated various matters with Designs and Models for Aquatic Resource Surveys (DAMARS), the OSU Program, the SCCWRP, and with the Program's U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Project Officer.
The Director, in cooperation with Don Stevens, Director of the DAMARS Program, organized and executed the Third Annual Conference on Statistical Survey Design and Analysis for Aquatic Resources, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO, September 10 - 11, 2003. That program is documented at http://www.stat.colostate.edu/starmap/opportunities.meeting.2.html Exit
Future Activities:
The Director will continue to monitor the progress of subprojects R829095C001 through R829095C004 and their coordination; monitor the progress of subcontracts with OSU, SCCWRP, and UAF; and coordinate the Program's activities with various parties. He will prepare and submit quarterly and annual reports to the EPA Project Officer, and will maintain and expand the STARMAP Web Site.
The Director will continue to recruit post-doctoral fellows; continue to facilitate development of subcontract relations with young statisticians at other institutions as an alternative to scarce post-doctoral fellows; and participate actively in the planning for the Fourth Annual Conference on Statistical Survey Design and Analysis for Aquatic Resources, currently scheduled for OSU, Corvallis, OR, September 9-10, 2005.
