Objective:
The Kansas Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Environmental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) program is a focused effort to enhance environmental research by giving young scientists an opportunity to become a part of a statewide team. The program will increase Kansas' competitiveness. The objectives of this research project are to: (1) establish interdisciplinary and interinstitutional research groups; (2) increase mentoring of junior faculty; (3) increase funding opportunities; (4) develop research infrastructure; (5) enhance communication and exchange of ideas between the participating universities; and (6) change the research emphasis from small grants to large projects.
