Description:
CFCs emitted as purge streams from large industrial refrig- erators are a considerable environmental problem and an economic loss. Membrane organic vapor recovery systems appear to be able to treat these streams. A membrane unit could recover CFC for reuse in the refrigerator, and produce a CFC-depleted airstream for venting. In the Phase I program, exisling membranes would be fabricated into high pressure modules and evaluated with model CFC/airstreams. In a Phase II program, a laboratory prototype system would be constructed and operated over a range of operating conditions and for sufficient time to demonstrate the unit's reliability.Supplemental Keywords:
