Description:
Veriflux is an end-to-end platform for recycled waste and renewable fuel feedstock traceability. As part of its EPA Phase I SBIR, Veriflux conducted research to determine the feasibility of its software to help renewable fuel producers meet Federal and State traceability requirements, including the EPA Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program's recordkeeping requirements for biogenic waste oils/fats/greases (40 CFR 80.1454 (j)(1)). To inform its research, the Veriflux Phase I team met with stakeholders from across government and industry, including upstream feedstock suppliers, aggregators, fuel producers and industry groups.
Summary/Accomplishments (Outputs/Outcomes):
The EPA Phase I SBIR research demonstrated that Veriflux is a viable solution to traceability requirements, and that Veriflux's capacity to not only capture point of origin data but also validate, protect and transit that data across complex supply chains is critical to overcoming compliance challenges that the renewable fuel industry currently faces. Additionally, the Phase I research showcased that Veriflux can be leveraged for traceability use-cases that extend beyond biogenic waste oils, fats and greases, to include vegetable oils, food waste, plastics and other future renewable feedstocks. Lastly, the research affirmed that Veriflux can and will play an invaluable role in creating a more dynamic data environment for suppliers, aggregators, fuel producers, auditors and regulators.
