Description:
This proposed project will develop a highly modularized green rooftop system that is not only longlasting
but also assemble-able/disassemble-able. At roofs' end-of-life, it can be disassembled and
100% recycled. At buildings' end-of-life, if the roof still has enough useable life, it can be disassembled
and reused elsewhere. Major environmental benefits of this technology are 1) nothing from this green
roofs goes to landfills, 2) much higher building energy efficiency on lighting, water/space heating, airconditioning,
etc. Electricity savings will make this proposed rooftop system very affordable.
This proposed system can be constructed with new building roofs, or be installed afterwards to extend
the lives of existing roofs and save energy simultaneously. We have discussed with multiple building
owners and property managers, including operations managers of Fortune 500 companies, about this
idea and they are all very interested in it and may be willing to trial this technology after our full
function prototypes become available. This technology will out-perform all similar technologies
currently exist, and play a major role in todays' $10.9B US green roofing market. It will reduce our
nation's dependency on fossil fuels and cut down both criteria air pollutants and greenhouse gas
emissions to protect our environment.
