Description:

MO-SCI Corporation has recently developed novel ultraviolet (UV) transmissable filler materials for incorporation into UV curable coating formulations. Preliminary experiments indicate that these materials alleviate or significantly decrease the disadvantages of conventional UV curable coatings. The UV transmissable filler materials allow a thick, opaquely pigmented coating to be cured at increased rates under both synthetic and natural (sunlight) UV illumination. In addition, coating properties such as chemical durability and abrasion resistance are enhanced. The Phase I objective is to confirm the results of the preliminary experiments and demonstrate the enhanced performance and properties of formulations incorporating these UV transmissable filler materials.
