Objective:

The water quality of the Chattahoochee River in Georgia will be explored. Water samples will be tested for the presence of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). EDCs will be identified and characterized. EDCs are chemical compounds that mimic hormones of the endocrine system and hinder normal body functions. This research will broaden my analytical skills as I prepare for my graduate studies in environmental toxicology with a specialty in carcinogenesis.
