Objective:The center will have as it primary focus groundwater remediation. The center will develop information at all stages of research development including idea generation, information transfer, laboratory and pilot-scale testing, and full-scale field applications. The transfer of research results needs to be facilitated so as to minimize the time and investments necessary to achieve full-scale application.
The objective of this project is to develop an effective technology transfer program for the center.
Approach:The technology transfer program will depend a variety of dissemination tools to achieve the research objective including:
- a Web-page display of current projects and research results;
- an electronic newsletter to be sent to stakeholders throughout the eight Western state including EPA and state remediation personnel, consulting engineers, and environmental service personnel; and
- extensive faculty presentations at the appropriate conferences.
The technology transfer program will also focus upon moving ideas from their generation to technology application. This will be achieve by assisting researchers with understanding technology transfer, improving information transfers, and improving contacts with partners for field applications.
Expected Results:The research results of the center will be rapidly and effectively transferred to interested users throughout the eight Western states and the nation. The extensive use of electronic media will help to minimize dissemination costs and distribution times.
