IRIS Documentation For Styrene

Portions of the dose-response assessment for styrene are now being drafted through contract mechanisims and will be reviewed, when available, by Agency scientists. Those sections that need to be updated and recast include those involving inherently governmental functions such as synthesis of noncancer effects, cancer weight of evidence, quantitative sections of both noncancer and cancer sections, as well as overall characterization sections written about the assessment. The intention for the styrene assessment is that it would be a complete dose-response assessment with both an oral RfD and an inhalation RfC with at least qualitative cancer evaluations for both oral and inhalation routes of exposure. The results of this assessment may be used directly in site assessments and would also improve risk assessments for air toxics and other hazardous wastes.
