Exposure Factors Handbook Chapter 3 (Update): Ingestion of Water and Other Select Liquids

EPA is announcing the release of an update to "Chapter 3: Ingestion of Water and Other Select Liquids" of the Exposure Factors Handbook (2011 Edition).

Abstract

This update includes new information and factors on nonchemical-specific information used to assess human exposure to environmental contaminants that has become available since the Exposure Factors Handbook: 2011 Edition was released. The recommended values have been revised, as needed, to reflect the new information. The purpose of this chapter is to provide intake data for water and select liquids that can be used in assessing exposure and risk from contaminants in water. The chapter focuses on the general population, but data are also provided for pregnant and lactating women and formula-fed infants.

Impact/Purpose

This document is an update to Chapter 3 (Ingestion of Water and Other Select Liquids) of the Exposure factors Handbook: 2011 Edition. Chapter 3 provides information and factors needed to assess exposures that occur from ingestion of water. The chapter focuses on the general population, but data are also provided for pregnant and lactating women and formula-fed infants.
