Daryl D. Quinn was a salesman for Water Treatment Equipment Incorporated. Water Treatment Equipment Incorporated was a company located in Yarmouth, Maine whose business involved analyzing water needs and problems such as contamination and offensive odor and taste, and proposing and implementing solutions such as water demineralization and removal filter systems.

In 2008, Water Treatment Incorporated installed a water purification system for a customer in Naples, Maine which was supposed to remove uranium from the customer’s well water. Thereafter, Quinn falsely represented to the customer that the uranium levels in the well water were at an acceptable level when, in fact, testing had shown the continued presence of an unacceptable level of uranium.

July 13, 2010
Quinn was charged with one count of mail fraud {18 U.S.C. 1341}.

He pled guilty to the charge.

Cumberland Man Pleads Guilty to Mail Fraud for Falsifying Water Test Results

Portland, Maine: United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced today that Daryl Quinn, 54, of Cumberland, Maine, pleaded guilty before United States District Judge D. Brock Hornby to one count of mail fraud for a scheme in which Quinn falsified water test results.

According to court records, Daryl D. Quinn was a salesman for Water Treatment Equipment Incorporated. Water Treatment Equipment Incorporated was a company located in Yarmouth, Maine whose business involved analyzing water needs and problems such as contamination and offensive odor and taste, and proposing and implementing solutions such as water demineralization and removal filter systems. U. S. Attorney Delahanty praised the efforts of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and its criminal investigator Kevin Gaul.

Quinn was sentenced to 36 months probation and ordered to pay a federal fine in the amount of $3,500 and restitution in the amount of $950 to the victims.
