Forecast Discussion: Updated Tuesday, September 19, 2017 Hidden Valley exceeded the 24 hour standard yesterday for PM10 largely due to a brief period of morning dust causing activities in conjunction with stagnation conditions, it was the 22nd exceedance day of 2017. Large-scale troughing will be the main feature in this week’s weather as a couple of upper level impulses move down from the Pacific Northwest and influence our weather, especially during the latter part of the work week. Stronger winds and blowing dust may once again result in PM10 exceedances, especially Thursday. At this point have a PM10 Health Watch possible on Thursday but that may need to be increased to a PM10 High Pollution Advisory depending on how strong the forecasted winds are. Stay tuned. The ozone levels will be in the upper good AQI category through the rest of the work week. PM2.5 levels will follow behind PM10 and be in the good to moderate range of the AQI scale. Much cooler temperatures for the end of the work week and upcoming weekend with afternoon high temperatures only in the 80s! Forecaster: S. DiBiase
