Description:
There is a need to move toward a more sustainable use of resources. Concern for the environment and future generations is leading us to shift the focus from waste management to resource management. This paper provides an overview of a decision support tool that provides a holistic approach to waste management through more efficient and effective resource use. Three studies using the tool are presented to illustrate how the decision support tool can be used to evaluate life-cycle environmental tradeoffs and help decision makers identify more sustainable solutions.
