Description:
The CURE electrocoagulation technology was demonstrated under the Superfund Innovative Technology Evaluation (SITE) program at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site (RFETS), where water from the solar evaporation ponds (SEPs) was contaminated with radionuclides and metals. CURE is a process designed to remove dissolved ionic species, such as metals, suspended colloidal materials, and emulsified oily materials, from groundwater, surface water, and industrial wastewater via electrocoagulation. The primary objective of the field demonstration was to evaluate the effectiveness of the CURE technology in the removal of radionuclides from contaminated wastewater at RFETS.
