Citation:

Thompson, J A. REGIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING AND ASSESSMENT PROGRAM. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, 2004.

Description:

The U.S. EPA Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP) supports the development and utilization of ecological monitoring as a critical component of environmental management and protection. Its authorization is provided under the Clean Water Act, as amended, Public Law 95-217, 33 U.S.C 1251. The Regional EMAP program is an important component of the national program, as it was initiated to test the applicability of the probabilistic-based monitoring approach to answer questions about ecological condition at the regional and local scales. REMAP assists regional, state, local and tribal governments in incorporating the latest science on ecological monitoring into their environmental descision-making process. This meeting information sheet will inform attendees about the REMAP program and the potential for participation in future REMAP projects.
