Khan*, S. AND R K. Srivastava*. UPDATING PERFORMANCE AND COST OF NOX CONTROL TECHNOLOGIES IN THE INTEGRATED PLANNING MODEL. Presented at Combined Power Plant Air Pollutant Control Mega Symposium, Washington, DC, August 30 - September 02, 2004.

Impact/Purpose:

To inform the public.

Description:

The US EPA uses the Integrated Planning Model (IPM) to evaluate the cost and emission impacts of proposed policies. Studies were undertaken recently to update the performance and cost factors contained in this model for various NOx control technologies. The studies showed a significant improvement in the performance capability of combustion controls. It also found it necessary to change the capital and O&M cost factors for both SCR and combustion control technologies. This paper discusses the factors contributing to these changes. The overall results of the US EPA studies and the revisions to the factors used in the IPM are presented.
